Biological Records In Essex is interested in all species, whether they are large or small, common or rare, to build up a picture of the biodiversity present in Essex.

All species are important to the functioning of an ecosystem. However, some species have been identified as requiring legal protection or designation as Biodiversity Action Plan or Red Data List species at local, national or international levels.
