Data Sharing

BRIE is currently working to increase the sharing of data in Essex by signing data exchange agreements with national and local recording groups. Among the organisations currently sharing data with BRIE are:

Recorders, Conservation and Natural History organisations

Essex Wildlife Trust  currently hosts BRIE and shares data with the BRIE database. Data received via the Essex Wildlife Trust also includes data collected by The Essex Biodiversity Project , Water For Wildlife  and the Essex Local Wildlife Sites Project .

The following organisations also share data with BRIE:

• Butterfly Conservation  Signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE in February 2012 to provide data on butterflies in Essex.
• Essex Bat Group  have signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE
• Essex Field Club  are members of the BRIE steering group and BRIE currently holds limited data on Orthoptera from the county recorder. BRIE is currently working with the Essex Field Club to share data on other taxa.
• Froglife  provides amphibian data to BRIE and signed a data exchange agreement in May 2011.
• The National Trust  have signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE to share data on their Essex sites.
• Pond Conservation  signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE in July 2011 and will provide data on priority ponds and related species to BRIE.
• The People's Trust for Endangered Species  has provided dormouse and stag beetle data to BRIE
• The Royal Horticultural Society  provides data from its gardens to BRIE
• The UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme  Data on cetacean strandings is provided by the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme which is jointly funded by Defra and the Devolved Administrations.
• The Woodland Trust  has signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE for provision of veteran tree data

Museums and Educational Insititutions

• Colchester Natural History Museum  are a member of the BRIE steering group
• Saffron Walden Museum  are a member of the BRIE steering group
• Writtle College - Centre for Environment and Rural Affairs (CERA) 

Statutory Bodies

• The Environment Agency  have signed a data exchange agreement with BRIE
• Natural England  support the development of BRIE
